Sketch Design Repeat regularly hosts the 3×3 design challenge – 3 prompts over 3 weeks. This is such great inspiration for themes that should be in a surface design portfolio. I hadn’t thought of making any Christmas related themes until the first prompt – ‘Vintage Christmas Baubles’. I designed the reindeer pattern based on some cute vintage baubles. For the second pattern I knew Santa had to make an appearance!

Evaluation
These patterns turned out well thanks to a carefully chosen colour palette and attention to detail. I created both patterns in around 2 hours which maybe stopped me overthinking them? I think they fit the prompt well.
