Milford Sound – Orca

As the Milford Mariner rests in the moonlight at her overnight mooring in Harrison Cove, Milford Sound, a pod of Orca investigate on their way past.

Orca are most often seen at the entrance to Milford Sound, close to the coast of Fiordland. I’m not sure if anyone has seen them as far in as Harrison Cove, but it could be in the realms of possibility… hunting seals perhaps? I like to think they might sneak in there unseen on rare occasions.

Harrison Cove, once one of the busiest sealing stations in NZ, was named after John Harrison of Longitude fame.
